Privacy Policy

Page Me is a real pager: you page friends and they page you, so some things have to pass through our server. This page says exactly what, and for how long. Questions: harfredlabs@gmail.com.

The short version

• No sign-up. We never ask for your name, email, phone number or contacts.
• Pages are held on our server only until your friend’s pager collects them, then deleted. Anything never collected is deleted after 30 days.
• Your page history lives only on your phone.
• No ads, no analytics, no trackers. Nothing is sold or shared with advertisers.

What our server stores

• Your pager number (a random 555 number) and, if you set one, your handle (up to 12 characters, shown to your friends).
• A device token and an activation code, stored only as one-way hashes, so we can tell your pager is yours and let you recover your number on a new phone.
• Who your friends are: which pager numbers you have paired with, requested, or blocked.
• Pages in transit: the text of a page, who sent it, who it’s for and when, until it is delivered (then deleted) or 30 days pass (then deleted).
• Delivery receipts: that a page you sent was delivered or expired, until your pager collects that receipt.
• Notification tokens from Apple or Google, so your pager can beep when the app is closed, and which device and alert setting you chose, so the beep sounds right.
• Reports: if you report a page, a copy of that page and the sender’s number, kept so we can act on abuse.
• Short-lived rate-limit counters to stop spam and number-guessing.

What stays on your phone

Your page history, the names you give friends, your presets, drafts and settings. Deleting the app deletes them. Settings → Export history saves a plain-text copy if you want one.

Notifications

Beeps are delivered through Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging. The notification shows who paged you and the page text, as a real pager would. You can turn notifications off in your phone’s settings at any time.

Service providers

Our server and database run on Google Cloud (United States). Notifications pass through Apple and Google. They process data only to deliver the service.

Children

Page Me is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

• Block anyone, at any time. Blocked pagers cannot reach you.
• Disconnect this number (Settings) deletes your pager, your friendships and any undelivered pages from our server, and clears the app.
• Email us to ask what we hold about your number, or to delete it.

Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Tokens and activation codes are stored hashed. We never log page text.

Changes to this policy

If this changes, we’ll update this page and the date above. Material changes will be mentioned in the app.
